This weekend The FA’s showcase youth Futsal event will be staged in Birmingham at the @Futsal Birmingham International Arena.
The two-day festival is the biggest youth Futsal event of its kind and will provide a fantastic exhibition of the best youth Futsal teams and players that have earned the right for a place at the final. Expect no shortage of skill and excitement and a fantastic atmosphere provided by the hundreds of players and supporters!
The FA National Youth Futsal Festival will see 80 youth teams from across the country playing over the weekend at U10, U12, U14 and U16 age groups. These youth teams will travel from all corners of the country after winning their local county Futsal Festival, and then progressing through their Regional Festival to represent their region in the National Finals. The FA National Youth Futsal Festival celebrates both boys and girls Futsal, with the focus being on enjoyment, skill and fun.
The FA’s Futsal development programme in schools and within junior clubs has had a significant impact on the playing opportunities for young players to get involved with Futsal and understand this popular format of small-sided football. This has created a growing affinity with The FA National Youth Festival amongst young players and their coaches over the years which always ensures an action packed and exciting prospect for everybody involved.
“The FA National Youth Futsal Festival is a wonderful occasion that brings together young people from across the country to participate in a game that they love,” said Simon Walker, The FA’s National Manager for Small Sided Football.
“The atmosphere of the event is terrific and the young players really thrive at being involved in an FA national event. Futsal is a game that can really play a positive role in assisting the technical development of the young players in this country.”
The FA National Youth Futsal Festival takes place on the 2 & 3 July 2011 at the International @Futsal Arena in Birmingham
